Endangered Animals

What are endangered animals? What is extinction?

An endangered species is a species that is very likely to become extinct in the near future, either worldwide or in a particular political jurisdiction. Endangered species may be at risk due to factors such as habitat loss, poaching and invasive species. For e.g.Amur Leopard Panthera pardus orientalis Critically Endangered Black Rhino , Bornean Orangutan , Cross River Gorilla , Eastern Lowland Gorilla , Hawksbill Turtle , Javan Rhino Rhinoceros Orangutan etc. Saola etc.

Extinction of a particular animal or plant species occurs when there are no more individuals of that species alive anywhere in the world - the species has died out. This is a natural part of evolution. But sometimes extinctions happen at a much faster rate than usual. For e.g.Stellers Sea Cow , Tasmanian Tiger,Passenger Pigeon ,Pyrenean Ibex etc.
